Bboy Events in May/July/August

Whats up yall, back again with another update for B-boy Events coming up this month and next month. Here's the scoop:

.MAY EVENTS
KINGS OF THE FLOOR 7 is coming up on May 31st (5-10pm). It's going to be a 2vs2 battle for $300.00 and a shot to qualify for the final KOTF #9 for $3,000.00. Bring $10 to Old Pine Community Center (401 Lombard St, Philadelphia, Pa 19147) to see east coast's finest at their best. Registered crews include: Dangerous Styles (Boston),Beat Whakz (PA ), Problems Crew (CT), Hidden Characters (MD), and many more. .JUNE EVENTS
Looking further, KINGS OF THE FLOOR 8 will be going down on June 28th (5-10pm). Again it'll be taking place at Old Pine Community Center (401 Lombard St; Philadelphia, Pa 19147) with the same format of 2vs2 winners taking $300 and qualifying for the final KOTF9 for $3,000. As of right now the registration for this is wide open so don't miss your chance to sign your crew up! Check the bboyworld forum post here to register your team and for more info.

CYPHA IN DA HOOD is the event to be if you're looking for State vs State action in Jersey. Its taking place on June 7, 2008 (6-12pm) at Grace Hall Building (Between Erie St. and 2nd St., Jersey City, NJ 07302). The battles will be 2vs2 with a grand prize of $300 cash. .AUGUST EVENTS
Mark your calendars cause EAST COAST OVERDOSE is coming up! Yes, yes yall, this will be one of the largest events on the east coast with many things to look forward to. Most notably the "East Coast", State vs State 10 on 10 Bboy/Bgirl Battle for $5,000 in Cash and Prizes! Need is say more? Well, you can also look forward to hosts YNOT (RSC) and RU (Foot Clan); Judges Kwon (Swift Kids), Poe 1 (Mighty Zulu Kings), and Teknyc (Skill Methods) and DJs DP One and Dadeo!!!

It's gonna be sick and you can look forward to it on: August 30th 2008 @ Our Lady of Victories School (240 Ege ave. J; Jersey City NJ 07304). Admission is $20 for general admission and $10 extra for video cameras. Mark your calendars and get ready, cause it's gonna be one hell of a party. Upcoming Philly Concerts in June

We have some fresh events coming up next month so let's delve in shall we? First up as many of you may know, THE ROOTS PICNIC is coming up next month. The show will include the artists: The Roots, Gnarls Barkley, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Santogold, DeerHoof, The Cool Kids, Diplo, Esperanza and many more! June 7, at 12pm at the Festival Pier (Columbus Boulevard & Springgarden Street; Philadelphia, PA 19123) is when it kicks off. However, this huge event doesn't come cheap, as you'll have to hand over $50 for general admission *damn!*. If you're interested check out their site at: http://www.theroots.com.

Next up is the FRESH RHYMES & VIDEOTAPE tour by artists: Dilated Peoples, the Alchemist, Aceyalone and 88Keys. It's happening on June 15 at the Fillmore at TLA and tickets are only $20 *sweet*! Keep in mind that this concert does fall on Father's Day so buy accordingly. For myself, I'll be hitting up the NYC show on June 13th. Last up is not really a hip-hop event, but does feature one of my favorite DJs (well maybe aside from The Third Hand...): RJD2. So what's up with this event? Well, JAM ON THE RIVER a two day concert also featuring the likes of: The Flaming Lips, The Disco Biscuits, Josh Ritter, BassnectarGrimace Federation. The event will be held from today (May 24) til tomorrow at the Festival Pier. Doors open at 12:30 and you'll have to shell over a hefty $50 today to get in or $45 for tomorrow (advance tix).
